Heat Intrigued as Kevin Love, Cavaliers Complete Deal Buyout

Kevin Love’s contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers is being finalized, according to Shams Charania and Jason Lloyd of The Athletic. This would enable the seasoned big man to enter the open market.

Given that they have a roster spot open and are searching the market for a frontcourt player, the Miami Heat are said to be interested in Love.

Since being removed from the Cavaliers’ starting lineup, Love has missed 12 straight games for them and has recorded nine straight DNP-CDs. He’s looking for a better playing opportunity, according to The Athletic.

Love’s shooting has been impacted by his ongoing battle with a sick thumb since late November. (Only 31.1% of his three-point attempts since December have resulted in a conversion for him.) Love has a season average of 8.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game while shooting.389/.354/.889 from the field.

Love would leave the Cavaliers after nine and a half seasons if his buyout was finalized. He will have produced 15.7 points and 9.6 rebounds per game while playing for Cleveland, shooting 37.6% from beyond the arc, and will have a 2016 NBA championship ring to show for it.
