Carter Scored A Career High 36 Points, And The Bucks Beat The Thunder In Two Quarters

The shorthanded Milwaukee Bucks defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 136-132 in two overtimes on Wednesday night thanks to Jevon Carter’s career-high 36 points and 12 assists.

Both of the Bucks’ top scorers were absent. Giannis Antetokounmpo missed practice due to a sore left knee, and Jrue Holiday missed practice due to a sprained right ankle. Carter made 15 of 27 field goals, including 5 of 10 3-point attempts, to make up for the scoring deficit.

The Bucks, who had won their first nine games of the season, added 24 points from Brook Lopez as well as 13 rebounds and five blocks.

For the Thunder, who dropped their fourth straight game, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 39 points, Tre Mann added 21, and Josh Giddey chipped in with 18 points, 15 rebounds, and six assists.

Late in the third quarter, the Thunder had a six-point lead before George Hill sank a 3-pointer at the buzzer to cut Oklahoma City’s advantage to 87-84.

Just under five minutes remained when Milwaukee led 112-100 before the Thunder fought back. After receiving an inbounds pass under the hoop, Lu Dort made an open layup to tie the score at 119. Carter could have forced overtime with a fadeaway at the final seconds.

The Oklahoma City Thunder led 126-125 after the first overtime thanks to a step-back 3-pointer by Gilgeous-Alexander with 0.6 seconds remaining. Dort fouled Lopez with 0.2 seconds left on an inbounds lob. Lopez converted his second free throw after missing the first one to force a second overtime period.
