Kyrie Irving Is Given A Minimum Five-game Suspension By The Nets

The Brooklyn Nets have suspended Kyrie Irving, releasing the following statement:

“We have made several attempts to work with Kyrie Irving over the past few days to help him comprehend the harm and danger of his words and deeds, which started with him promoting a disturbing antisemitic hate film. We thought we had made progress in our shared goal of eradicating hate and intolerance and that choosing the educational path in this difficult situation would be the best one.

“We were shocked to learn today that Kyrie declined to explicitly state he has no antisemitic beliefs or acknowledge any specific hateful content in the movie when given the chance during a media session. He had the chance to clarify before, but he didn’t take it.

“It is deeply troubling, goes against our organization’s values, and constitutes conduct that is harmful to the team when someone refuses to denounce antisemitism when given a clear opportunity to do so. As a result, we think he is not yet suitable to be a part of the Brooklyn Nets organization. We have decided that Kyrie will serve an unpaid suspension for a minimum of five games while he completes a number of objective corrective actions that address the negative effects of his behavior.”
